America in all its Glory

Mabry Mill, Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia

What a gorgeous shot of Mabry Mill in the Blue Ridge Mountains (Virginia). Such a peaceful, serene setting.

Sitting on the edge of the water. Taking a worm and baiting it on the hook of a line that is attached to a long, thin tree branch. Gently "cast" the line into the water. Now to sit quietly, watching the dragonflies skip across the surface of the calm water. Listening to the frogs calling to one another. All the thoughts of your daily life are no longer with you - all you are thinking about at this moment is the beauty of the trees, where they simply meld into the banks of the water.

Who cares if you ever get a nibble on your line. Just to enjoy this moment that you will never live again. That is life!

Every crime committed by an illegal immigrant should never have happened!!!

Read my posting under Illegal Immigrants.

A quote from President Theodore Roosevelt addressed on immigration in 1907:

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American ... There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag ... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language ... and we have room for but one sole loyalty, and that is a loyalty to the American people."

You may have more hair Mr President, but I've got more testosterone, says the BBC's political editor

In early August, when GWB was holding his first summit meeting with Britain's new leader in Maryland, it was a very, very warm day. Standing for a very long time in the beating sun a British reporter who happened to have a hair deficit on the top of his head was sweating profusely.

After the summit meeting and GWB and the British leader had met with the press, GWB remarked to the reporter "Next time you should cover your bald head".

Here from the reporter:
Call me sensitive, suggest I'm paranoid if you like – we who are follically challenged are used to it – but I think his meaning was pretty plain. "Now it's your turn to feel the heat, baldie," the President was saying.

"I didn't know you cared," I replied, as Dubya and the PM started walking away.

"I don't," the President snapped.
Perhaps GWB was suffering from the heat as well! However, he is know to make snide and nasty remarks in the coldest of winters as well!

I hail from the same state as GWB - Texas. I do not recall ever being raised to be snide. Perhaps his mother was lacking in maternal skills to teach her children the art of tact! Gee she seemed like such a nice woman.

The "unreasonable" reasoning!

Ken Burns's upcoming PBS documentary "The War," which has weathered complaints from Latinos about their World War II contributions being represented, is now prompting responses from another group: managers of public TV stations.

The stations are concerned that four words of profanity in the 14 1/2 -hour documentary could subject them to hefty indecency fines from the Federal Communications Commission. Their worries have prompted Arlington-based PBS to take the unprecedented step of distributing two versions of "The War" for broadcast next month: Burns's original film and an FCC-friendly version from which the profanity has been removed.

Ken Burns agreed with PBS's decision to distribute two versions of "The War." Several stations, including WETA in Arlington and Maryland Public Television, say they will air both versions. WETA and MPT will carry the unedited "War" when the documentary begins its multi-night run during prime-time hours Sept. 23, and will switch to the "bleeped" version when they rebroadcast it during daytime hours the following weekend.

WHUT, operated by Howard University, will carried the scrubbed version only, a spokeswoman said.

WETA's decision is particularly notable given that the station is a co-producer of Burns's work. WETA and MPT offer the same rationale: Because children are more likely to be watching the film over the weekend, broadcasting "The War" with its profanities removed will respect community sensibilities and avert potential problems with the FCC.
Now, I have one question. What parent is going to allow their children to watch this and ONLY be concerned about the obscene words? They would have no problem allowing their children to see the obscenities of war? So, it is okay for their children to see people being killed brutally, but they have a problem with some bad words, which I am sure they have heard before, perhaps not on a regular basis?

Go figure the reasoning of some people!

She's right, but . . .

"What are we doing to this younger generation? We're so focused on the wrong things. We're teaching young girls that this is what they should be focusing on: rich and famous girls who are rich and famous for nothing."

"I just think the media should take this country in a different direction."

While I agree with what she says, considering the character she plays in "Grey's Anatomy", it comes out sounding so hypocritical.

Huffington Post title inappropriate!!

This is the title of an article on Huffington Post today, under Politics:
Vanity Fair Examines "Judi" Nathan
Ex-Husband: "She Is A Manipulator And A Pathological Liar... Adopted A Child For Status Purposes"
I read the article and nowhere was that phrase even stated in the article, much less infer such a thing.

I think Huffington Post better get their heads out of their backsides and post appropriate titles for their articles before they get their pants sued off!!

The Juice Gushes on Web Stream

07/31/07 10:08 AM
How are things going for O.J. Simpson? Ask him yourself tonight at 6 p.m., when the Juice sits down and answers viewer questions for a televised online interview with MN1.com, a Dallas-area IPTV network primarily devoted to covering stocks that trade for under $5.

MN1.com spokesman Mike Gould tells Radar that Simpson sought the network out about the possibility of an interview earlier this year—he was so excited by the online operation's "purity of format" that he asked not to be compensated. "It's an exciting enough opportunity for O.J. that he doesn't want money," says Gould. While the network, he says, is full of "O.J. agnostics," he also promises "Everything comes up during the interview—his football career, the trial, the If I Did It book," a bold claim for an interview that hasn't happened yet.

The first half of the interview is scheduled to be hosted by MN1.com personality Kate Delaney. In the second half, the network plans to have Simpson respond to questions from penny-trading Texans with high-speed Internet.

"We're no stranger to high-profile interviews," Gould adds confidently. "I mean, after all, MN1.com has interviewed almost all of the top club DJ's in Dallas and Austin."
Who cares! He is sooo in need of media attention he is doing prostituting himself out for free. Wonder how many people will tune in? Wonder if people will protest loud and long against the station doing the interview, like we protested to Fox networks when they were going to do the interview/promo for his book? I certainly hope so!!

What a noble "Prince"

Prince Found Naked After Robbery By Gang of "Attractive" Women
July 27, 2007, 3:40 PM PDT

Frederic von Anhalt, the eighth and longest-lasting husband of actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, was found naked today in the backseat of his Rolls Royce behind the Bel-Air Country Club, claiming he been mugged by three attractive women, police said.

Police were called about 10 this morning to the 10600 block of Bellagio Road, which is behind the Bel-Air Country Club, to find von Anhalt, believed to be 64 years old, sitting naked in the backseat of his car, said Kevin Maiberger of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.
Uh huh - and if you buy that story, I have a plot of land just for you! Sounds to me like there was a little hanky panky and he doesn't know how to explain it away!

Say what?

(CBS) LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. Authorities learned the location of a man's skeletal remains near Lake Elsinore from four men detained in Mexico while allegedly trying to sell a vehicle they didn't own, a deputy said Tuesday.

What's with the way they worded this? Why didn't they just say "stole" instead of "didn't own". Sorry, but if they were trying to be politically correct, this was not an instance that called for it!

How come these crimes commited by illegals are not on the news NATIONWIDE??

DEPORT THEM NOW!
Wed Jul 18, 3:00 AM ET
My fellow Americans, we have a problem. We spend billions of dollars on homeland security, but our government can't even track and deport convicted criminal aliens. These are not the well-meaning "newcomers" who just want to "pursue economic opportunities" by "doing the jobs no one else will do." These are foreign-born thugs, sex offenders, murderers and repeat drunk drivers who are destroying the American Dream.

If our immigration and entrance system cannot effectively monitor, detain and kick out convicted criminal aliens — including illegal border-crossers, illegal visa overstayers, fugitive deportees, and green card holders who have committed serious crimes and aggravated felonies — what good is it?

The terrible kidnapping and murder of 12-year-old Zina Linnik in Tacoma, Wash., on July 4th is a typical example of the criminal alien revolving door. Terapon Adhahn, Linnik's suspected kidnapper and killer who allegedly snatched her from the backyard of her home, is a permanent legal resident from Thailand. He was convicted of incest in 1990. Adhahn had sexually attacked his 16-year-old relative and pleaded down from a second-degree rape. Two years later, he was convicted of intimidation with a dangerous weapon. Section 1227(a)(2)(C), Title 8, of the U.S. code dealing with immigration states: "Any alien who at any time after admission is convicted under any law of . . . using, owning, possessing, or carrying . . . any weapon, part, or accessory which is a firearm or destructive device . . . in violation of any law is deportable."

But Adhahn was not deported. In fact, as Lorie Dankers, spokeswoman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Seattle, admitted: "He escaped our attention."

Just like illegal alien gangster Mwenda Murithi, who was arrested 27 times without deportation before being arrested in the shooting death of 13-year-old innocent bystander Schanna Gayden last month in Illinois.

Just like illegal alien thug Ezeiquiel Lopez, who built up a six-year rap sheet without deportation before being arrested in the murder of Deputy Frank Fabiano two months ago in Wisconsin.

Just like illegal alien Juan Leonardo Quintero, who had been previously deported after committing crimes from indecency with a child to driving while intoxicated, but who traipsed back into the U.S. last fall and was arrested after allegedly shooting Houston police officer Rodney Johnson four times in the head during a routine traffic stop.

And the list goes on and on and on.

It is not "anti-immigrant radicals" who are fed up with the failure to kick out and keep out criminal aliens. Zina Linnik's uncle, Anatoly Kalchik, points out that his family was a family of legal immigrants who all obeyed the laws. The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported: "Zina's uncle was angry that the suspect had not been deported after being convicted in a sex crime. 'We are all immigrants, but we come legally,' Kalchik said of his family. He added that the adults all cleared a criminal background check. 'If someone is a sex offender, or any kind of offender, he has no business being in America,' he said."

Federal auditors and immigration officers have tried to blow the whistle on this recurring problem for the past 10 years. But the Department of Homeland Security inspector general reported last year that of an estimated 650,000 foreign-born inmates in prison and jails this year, half will be removable aliens who won't be removed because the detention and deportation office "does not have the resources to identify, detain and remove" them.

And that's just a best guess. Despite federal mandates, cooperative agreements and endless political promises, there still is no working nationwide system in place with basic information about incarcerated criminal aliens.

Don't we have enough homegrown criminals without the added public safety menace of known, convicted criminal aliens being released from prisons and jails to disappear and commit more crimes?

Rep. David Price, a North Carolina Democrat, is sponsoring legislation to require monthly prison and jail checks by DHS to track incarcerated illegal aliens, increase spending on criminal alien deportations, and expand a program known as 287(g) to encourage more local and state officials to cooperate with the feds to help identify and deport criminal aliens in their hometowns.

Why the hell aren't we doing all this already? How many more innocent lives will be taken or ruined before we do?

After the defeat of the Bush-Kennedy amnesty bill last month, I received tons of e-mail from readers asking: "What can I do?" Answer: Don't wait for Washington. Sign up to help pressure our government to rid this country of convicted criminal aliens at www.deportthemnow.com.

For Zina. For Schanna. For Deputy Fabiano. For Officer Johnson. For our safety, sovereignty and the protection of the American Dream for those who deserve it.

Somebody wants some $$$

Sister Of "To Catch A Predator" Target Sues NBC For $100 Mil
The sister of a veteran Texas prosecutor who blew his brains out as he was about to be busted in an underage-sex sting set up by "Dateline" is slapping NBC with a $100 million suit.

Louis "Bill" Conradt grabbed a gun and shot himself as he spotted cops, reporter Chris Hansen and a camera crew from the popular "To Catch a Predator" segment outside his home on Nov. 5, 2006, according to a notice of claim sent to NBC yesterday.

The suit will be filed Monday in Manhattan Federal Court on behalf of his estate, said Patricia Conradt's lawyer, Bruce Baron.
