Ottawa (Reuters) – The premier of Ontario has apologized to a young black man who received an e-mail from a government worker referring to him as a “ghetto dude”, officials said on Monday. What on earth is it going to take for people to realize that they need to THINK BEFORE OPENING YOUR MOUTH!!
Evon Reid, a political science student living in a part of Toronto where levels of black joblessness are high, had sent a message to the bureaucracy of the Canadian province of Ontario asking about a job application.
He then received an e-mail from a government worker - - a message meant for colleagues but mistakenly sent to Reid - - saying, “This is the ghetto dude that I spoke to before”.
I don't care what you may be thinking in your pea sized brain. Not everything you think needs to be spoken.
As civilized people, surely we are aware of just how what we say affects others, whether words or spoken in private and not intended for others to hear or not.
This is not just about political correctness. It is about common sense and civility!
If people who open their mouths to such crudeness were severely penalized, or if the words were truly horrific, then fired on the spot, then I think people would think twice about what they say.
