America in all its Glory

Mabry Mill, Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia

What a gorgeous shot of Mabry Mill in the Blue Ridge Mountains (Virginia). Such a peaceful, serene setting.

Sitting on the edge of the water. Taking a worm and baiting it on the hook of a line that is attached to a long, thin tree branch. Gently "cast" the line into the water. Now to sit quietly, watching the dragonflies skip across the surface of the calm water. Listening to the frogs calling to one another. All the thoughts of your daily life are no longer with you - all you are thinking about at this moment is the beauty of the trees, where they simply meld into the banks of the water.

Who cares if you ever get a nibble on your line. Just to enjoy this moment that you will never live again. That is life!

Every crime committed by an illegal immigrant should never have happened!!!

Read my posting under Illegal Immigrants.

A quote from President Theodore Roosevelt addressed on immigration in 1907:

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American ... There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag ... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language ... and we have room for but one sole loyalty, and that is a loyalty to the American people."

How do the Military families feel about Dubya?

In the Huffington Post today, is an article regarding the feelings of Military families about GWB. Great reading. But the comments make for much more interesting reading. Check it out at The Huffington Post - Majority Of Military Families Disapprove Of Bush, Handling Of War

While all the media will report is how Dubya has the full support of anyone in the military, this tells the true story!

Funny, how Dubya has managed to put the media in his pocket and refuse to allow the media to film the return of our soldiers who have died in this war. And when he has any media event where he discusses the war, he only allows people in who are 100% Bushie fans.

This is an administration that has totally undermined all that was good about our Constitution and twisted everything to their own benefit.

My, how Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock, and others who signed the Constitution as well as past Presidents who stood for all of the Constitution must be rolling over in their graves.

Funny how it has taken only one man to make a mockery of the highest office in the land.

With every dishonest thing that GWB does, I keep thinking the US cannot sink any lower, but he just proves me wrong. I wonder what the bottom is? I wonder how much lower we will sink before he is out of office?

AND, I wonder what this nation will be like with a new Administration in office. Will they be able to undo all of the wrongs in their 4 years of office? If not, will they not be re-elected for their failure to do so in 4 years? People will need to understand that what Bush has done, he did not do in his first 4 years. So it should not be expected for any new administration to be able to fix this mess in 4 years.

Think in terms of bad habits. You don't develop bad habits instantly. It takes time for a bad habit to become a part of you. And you don't undo bad habits quickly. That takes time.

I have no idea who will be our next President. And our options are not the best to pick from (what, is this the best our nation has to offer? Unbelievable!). But we do need to be patient if our next administration is going to try to fix this mess.
