America in all its Glory

Mabry Mill, Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia

What a gorgeous shot of Mabry Mill in the Blue Ridge Mountains (Virginia). Such a peaceful, serene setting.

Sitting on the edge of the water. Taking a worm and baiting it on the hook of a line that is attached to a long, thin tree branch. Gently "cast" the line into the water. Now to sit quietly, watching the dragonflies skip across the surface of the calm water. Listening to the frogs calling to one another. All the thoughts of your daily life are no longer with you - all you are thinking about at this moment is the beauty of the trees, where they simply meld into the banks of the water.

Who cares if you ever get a nibble on your line. Just to enjoy this moment that you will never live again. That is life!

Every crime committed by an illegal immigrant should never have happened!!!

Read my posting under Illegal Immigrants.

A quote from President Theodore Roosevelt addressed on immigration in 1907:

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American ... There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag ... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language ... and we have room for but one sole loyalty, and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Fluffy Lemon Berry Pie

This has to be one of the most refreshing pies I have ever had. Everyone I have shared this recipe with has told me that their dinner guests loved it!

Fluffy Lemon Berry Pie

4 oz. (1/2 of 8 oz. pkg) of Philadelphia Cream Cheese, softened
1-1/2 cups cold milk
2 pkg (4-serving size each) Jell-o Lemon Flavor Instant Pudding & Pie Filling
1 tub (8 oz) Cool Whip Whipped Topping, thawed
1 Nilla Pie Crust (6 oz)
1 cup strawberries, sliced
Beat cream cheese in large bowl with wire whisk until creamy. Gradually add milk, beating until well blended. Add pudding mixes. Beat 2 minutes or until well blended. Gently stir in half of the whipped topping.

Spoon into crust; top with remaining whipped topping.

Refrigerate 3 hours or until set. Top with strawberries just before serving.

Not fair!!
Us in the UK can't get some of these ingredients.
Just going to have to look at the picture and drool! Mind you, knowing my luck, just looking at the picture I'll gain weight!
:)

Regarding the tagging, visit some blogs, pick 8 you like, list them on your blog, then write to each, in their comments that they have been tagged and they need to come to yours to see what they have to do next. Put the rules on your blog (like I have done) then make a list of eight things about yourself. That's it, they come to you, you then have 8 more readers and sometimes readers of the blogs you have tagged come over too! Instant traffic! Ta Dah!
