Media Post's Marketing Daily reports that Macy's pulled a T-Shirt "aimed at Hispanic shoppers" which reads "Brown Is The New White" from stores in Georgia and Texas. The store issued an apology to customers who found the merchandise offensive. But good news! If you live in those states and you're looking for the "banned" tee, just check out eBay, where it's going for the bargain price of $9.99 (the "buy it now" price is $16.99). You could also just drive across the border (to another state, that is) -- there's a Macy's in Birmingham, Alabama.
This T-shirt is offensive in ways that cannot be put into words. This T-shirt should be pulled from EVERY store in the US.
Just what is the meaning of the words? How would you take it?
For me, it is the same things as those who march in our Independence Day Parade, carrying the Mexican Flag, all the while saying they want to be US citizens.
